90 Seconds wasn't quite enough time for Oliver, here's a few more things we've achieved:


Financial Growth: Income increased by nearly 50% to £4.5 million, enabling significant expansion of research and patient-focused projects.

Research Investment: PCR funded over 20 academic research and health inequity projects, increasing its research spending by 25% compared to the previous year.

Racial Inequalities Focus: Continued funding of ten projects on racial disparities in prostate cancer, totalling over £1.5 million in commitments.

Academic Research Achievements:

Discovery by Dr. Jennifer Munkley and team on the role of glycans in tumor growth, suggesting potential new drug targets.
Research by Professor Iain J. McEwan’s team identified drug combinations to enhance hormone therapy effectiveness.

Translational Research Progress:

Investment of £100,000 in Nanovery for microRNA biomarker diagnostics.
Investment of £20,000 in GlycoScore for liquid biopsy test development.

Patient Engagement:

Launched the Infopool website, with over 500 stories and 150 videos from patients.
Achieved PIF TICK accreditation, confirming high standards of health information.
The webinar series “What to Expect: A Guide to Prostate Cancer” received over 6,000 views.

Advocacy and Influencing:

Engaged with key political figures and initiated a cost-benefit analysis to support policy change, focusing on screening and diagnosis advocacy.
138,000 people signed PCR’s petition calling for prostate cancer screening.
PCR leaders met with both the current and previous Health Secretary and Chancellor to discuss prostate cancer screening and policies to enhance early detection.

Communications and Public Engagement:

The Real Talk campaign was featured on Sky Sports, effectively raising public awareness and encouraging conversations about prostate cancer. This campaign aimed to reduce stigma and promote early health action, reinforcing PCR’s commitment to supporting patients and their families.
